Our mission at Solo Connects is a simple one - to bring back in person dating. If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know that Sam and I had a crazy idea over brunch in October 2024 to see if we could “get 20 people down the pub once a month” and we absolutely smashed that - getting over 100 people to the pub on a cold, wintery January night just two months after our first event.

Since then, we have tried out a number of different event types based on what we have learned from our 2,200 strong army of loyal followers in our Facebook Group (thank you all for your support and patience as we grew Solo Connects at an alarming rate)!

We now have a range of different events tailored to what you may need. Some events are guided by age and others are more geared towards dating, friendship and special interest.

Friendship Events

Coffee & Cake (open to all ages)

Our Coffee & Cake events happen every month and include a free walk around a local area of beauty first (optional). This is a great first event if you’d like to get comfortable meeting people for the first time (guaranteed you’ll come away with some new friends) and is great if you’d like a quieter, chilled vibe. 

These events are not designed for dating and are open to both men and women, but we don’t have a strict split on the ticket volumes. You never know, you might find love at one of these events (always be open to the possibility), but these aren’t the focus.

Party Nights (open to all ages)

We love a party at Solo Connects and throughout the year, we aim to host different themed party nights so that you can dance the night away with fabulous singles.

So far, we’ve hosted a RED Party for Valentine’s Day, which saw 150 single people paint the town red on the most romantic day of the year. We also have Solo Fest and Halloween coming up, with more in the planning stages for our First Birthday party and New Year’s Eve.

These events are open to all ages, but they typically attract a crowd in their late 30’s, 40’s and 50’s and 60’s. They are busy, noisy events, so if you prefer a quieter vibe, these are perhaps not the best events for you. If you love dancing and a good old party - then we’d love for you to join us!

Dating events

We offer a range of dating events for people aged 25 - 65+ - check them out below.
Singles mixer events (age guide 35 - 55) in MK, Bedford, Northampton & Aylesbury

These are hugely popular events and typically get up to 150 people attending. These events are quite busy and can be noisy, but they are a GREAT opportunity to meet lots of people in your local area. We host a number of these events at Warbler on The Wharf in Milton Keynes, when their availability allows and we find other venues when they can’t host us. 

We always try to have an even split of men and women in the room and typically at these events, the split is 60% women and 40% men.

The age guidance is there as a guide. Typically, these events have attracted people between the age of 35 - 55. If you’d like to come along and you sit outside of this age group, you’re welcome, but be aware that the majority of people will be 35 - 55 and we do have other events that may be more tailored to your specific age group.

If you love the old vibe from ‘back in the day’ of chatting to lots of people down the pub then this event is great for you. We do encourage you to move around the room with ice-breaker games (nothing too cringey) and we’d suggest you try to speak to as many people in the room as possible.

We also offer Singles Mixer events in Northampton, Aylesbury, Bedford and of course Milton Keynes.

Single Sundays with optional Speed Dating (age guide 35 - 55)

Single Sundays have been very popular since we launched them in June and are a brilliant way to beat the Monday dread! Hosted by Marco’s in the centre of Milton Keynes, the vibes are lovely and they are busy, popular events, regularly attracting approximately 100 people.

We are now offering an OPTIONAL speed dating at these events. As well as chatting and mingling with lots of local single people, if you’d like to have a go at Speed Dating, then you’ll have the chance - all you need to do is book a ticket and we will sort out the rest.

Dating Events for 25 - 35s

From September 2025, we are pleased to offer the Solo Connects magic for people aged 25 - 35. We’ve had a number of younger people attend our events who feel that they love the idea of meeting people in real life, but they have felt that our events have been pitched at an ‘older’ crowd.

People who are aged under 35 typically won’t remember the good old days before dating apps, where people used to go up and speak to each other in a bar. That’s why it was important to bring them specific events designed for this age group. 

From what we have seen, younger people are more serious about dating than they are about friendship. Many are looking for ‘their person,’ haven’t been married before and are looking to settle down and build a family.

They are at a totally different stage of life to people (like Sam and I), who have been married and have children in tow. They want something different and we make no apology for bringing in person events for that age group.

Our launch event in September, with our new host Grace, is selling very well and we are delighted to partner with Unity Place to bring back in person dating for under 35’s.

We are strict on the age limit on this one. We will ask that people bring their ID to verify their age and anybody who can’t do that, won’t be admitted to the event. In the past, people have not been truthful about their ages at our events and (you may not want to hear this) typically, women aged 25 do not want to date men in their 40’s…it makes them feel unsafe and we won’t allow that to happen. So, we are strict on age and again, we won’t apologise for that.

Dating and Friendship events for over 55’s

We know we’ve got a number of events for people aged 35-55 and our plan is to put specific events on for people aged over 55 who are looking for smaller, quieter events. Please bear with us while we recruit a suitable host - Sam and I host 8 events a month between us so we do need some help. 

Members events

We do have a membership and it’s ended up being THE BEST social club. As part of the membership, we offer a monthly Members Lounge - we’ve done fire walking, karaoke, watched live bands…and we’ve got more planned!

All our members are ID verified, so you know that people are who they say they are. Members also set up their own events, so this is perfect if you are looking to make new friends.
