Solo Support - what do the changes mean?

October 03, 20255 min read

We are making the Solo Connects Support Community Facebook Group a paid community from end of October. We have done a LIVE video in the Facebook Group on Friday 3 October to explain these changes.

A considerable amount of work goes into running this community and it isn't sustainable or financially viable to run a 2,200 member Facebook group if we rely on event ticket sales alone.

Therefore, we are inviting members to show their support for the work we do with a £4 per month contribution. You can sign up here: www.soloconnects.co.uk/support.

Do I have to pay the £4 per month membership to come to events still?

No. Nobody has to pay, but you can still stay in touch with us via Email, What's App, Instagram, EventBrite or our Facebook PAGE. The details to sign up are below. We'd love for you to stay in the Group and participate, but if you can't you will be very welcome to come to the events still.

Do I have to pay the £4 per month membership fee to remain in the Facebook Group.

Yes. This is a small donation (the price of a coffee per month) to show support for the work we do. If we can generate stable income, we can create better content to help you on your dating journey and spend more time reaching single people. If you don't subscribe to the group by 31st October, we will remove your profile.

You would be welcome to rejoin again, by signing up for £4 per month at www.soloconnects.co.uk/support.

What do I get for £4 per month?

You'll remain in the Facebook Group and you'll be invited to our paid members What's App community, based on the new age-specific Clubs we are launching. Joining via What's App is totally optional - I will cover this below. Your contribution will help us to keep up the good work we've been doing in the last year.

Can I cancel or upgrade?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription, but we will then remove you from the Facebook Group and What's App Groups. You can cancel by emailing [email protected]. You can upgrade to one of our other membership options at any time too - again, just email us and we can make that happen.

I'm already a paying member, what do the changes mean to my existing membership?

Your current membership does not change, but we are making some changes that may suit you better....You may look at the £15 membership option and want to upgrade so that you've got the choice of booking Members Lounge OR one of our singles mixer events as part of your monthly fee. Currently, you only get Members Lounge as your free event.

Please email [email protected] if you want to do that.

We are so grateful for the 100 members we've had sign up since we launched our membership 6 months ago - your contribution and support for the Solo Connects community has been incredibly helpful.

What are the membership options for Solo Connects?

We have three membership options and you can find out about them on www.soloconnects.co.uk/support.

  • £4 per month supports us to run the community and gets you access to the Facebook Group and the What's App chats (based on ages).

  • £7 per month gets you access to Together Online, where you will get a free monthly online meet up to meet new members and access to a monthly Solo Support Session with our coaches and therapists, Janet or Paul.

  • £15 per month is the new price for our Monthly Membership. Existing member prices remain the same unless you choose to upgrade.

Tell me more about the Membership Clubs:

If you're a paid supporter (ie: £4 p/m or any other option), then you can join our What's App community. We will open up the Club Chats on What's App Wednesday, so you can chat to singles in the clubs that you belong to:

  • Club 25 - 35

  • Club 30 - 45

  • Club 40 - 55

  • Club 50 - 65

  • Club 60+

You will need to join the Club that's relevant to your age and either the club in the age group above or below, depending on who you'd like to meet! I'm 45 so I'd be in Club 30 - 45 and Club 40 - 55.

Do I have to join the age-related clubs in the What's App Community?

No. Not everybody would want to do that, and it's totally OK. You'll get alerted to the events for your age group via EventBrite, email, the Facebook Group, our Facebook Page and Instagram.

If you are in the age-related clubs, your phone number will be visible on What's App and we ask that you keep people's phone numbers private and show respect at all times.

If you'd like to get details of the events in What's App but not have your phone number visible, please join via this link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/KmL5Y2Rz1y95ydZVFSZ7cH

I don't want to pay, how can I keep in touch with the events:

All our events are on www.soloconnects.co.uk but you can get alerts to our events if you do any of the following (choose the option that's best for you):

Get event updates on What's App: https://chat.whatsapp.com/KmL5Y2Rz1y95ydZVFSZ7cH

Follow our Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/soloconnectsUK

Follow us on Instagram: www.instagram.com/soloconnectsUK

Follow Solo Connects on EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/solo-connects-uk-100284686011

Sign up for email alerts: https://link.connectedcampaigns.co.uk/widget/form/j0I8bcKLdYaIG6vplchY

Any comments or questions, please feel free to email [email protected]. Please don't send us DMs as we can't track and manage them all.

A big thank you

We would like to thank the 3,500 people who have bought tickets for our events so far. But, we need to make this community financially viable as we already spend over half of our working week on Solo Connects and we can't do what we need to do to grow, without a stable income stream.

In September, we had 650 tickets for sale across Milton Keynes, Northampton, Bedford and Aylesbury and we had to cancel 3 events due to poor uptake. This takes up an incredible amount of time and is disappointing to everyone involved.

In the Facebook Group, we have 2,200 members and many haven't engaged on any posts or attended any events. There are other Facebook Groups where you can sit and watch the other members, but ours isn't like that. We want to support people with the confidence they need to come to our events, because when they do, they NEVER regret it.
