Solo Connects Founders Win ‘Best Newcomer’ at Mayor of MK 2026 Awards

Solo Connects founders Rachel Allen and Samantha Poole have been crowned ‘Best Newcomer’ at the prestigious Mayor of MK 2026 Awards, hosted by Mayor James Lancaster.

The award recognises the outstanding impact Solo Connects has made across Milton Keynes, building a thriving community for single people seeking friendship, connection and love.

Solo Connects is a vibrant dating and friendship community based in Milton Keynes, hosting fun, friendly events designed to help people connect in real life. From relaxed pub socials and activity-based meetups to larger themed events, the group’s mission is simple: no more flying solo – let’s go.

Co-founder Samantha Poole said:
“I feel proud of what we’ve achieved and grateful for the support we’ve been given since we launched in November 2024. This is our first award win for Solo Connects - to be the winner of Best Newcomer in Milton Keynes is pretty special. We’ve worked so hard to create a wonderful community for single people in Milton Keynes and were delighted to win.”

Co-founder Rachel Allen added:

During the ceremony, Jo Roan, Head of MKFM, addressed more than 200 city dignitaries and praised the founders’ contribution to Milton Keynes:

“Samantha and Rachel created this wonderful group to help people meet new friends, build connections and, in some cases, even start new relationships. Their events regularly attract huge numbers, a testament to the warm, welcoming environment they work so hard to create.

What makes their achievement even more impressive is that they do all of this while running their own successful businesses and family life as single mothers. Their dedication, energy and passion have brought so many people together, and they have made a genuine difference to the lives of those who may otherwise feel isolated.”

Since launching, Solo Connects has rapidly grown into one of the city’s most talked-about communities, offering a safe, inclusive and supportive space for singles across Milton Keynes. They run dating events including singles nights in local pubs and bars, coffee and cake (with optional dog walks), Salsa nights, speed dating and even discos for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day and Halloween.
