Solo Connects Celebrates Small Businesses in MK
Since Sam and I set up Solo Connects last year, we have been committed to supporting as many small businesses as we could.
We both run our own successful small businesses. Sam is the brains behind the Mum to Mum Facebook Group, which has 26,700 parents from MK in it, as well as an online business directory and business networking platform, Ask GoTo. Rachel is a marketing consultant and helps B2B business owners to Stop Random Acts of Marketing.
Since launching Solo Connects in November 2024, we have wanted to show our support for other local businesses, venues, and suppliers.
As we celebrate Small Business Saturday, we wanted to give a shout-out to the wonderful businesses that have helped us over the last 12 months.
Venues for dates in Milton Keynes
The Brickyard, part of the Scot Club Bletchley has hosted our Halloween Disco, Coffee & Cake and our members lounge events.
Willen Lake event space for hosting our Coffee & Cake events and Festive Afternoon Tea.
Nonna's Woburn Sands who are hosting a range of fabulous events in their stunning restaurant, including a pre-Christmas Singles Mingle and a gourmet roast dinner for early January.
We have also enjoyed visiting Buck Star Brewery Tap House for members lounges (the first one was when we did the Fire Walk), our second event which was a Christmas Jumper party in December 2024 and other dating events for a range of age groups.
Our bacon was well and truly saved when a venue let us down 3 days before Solo Fest back in June. The guys at Big Jay's (now The Red House) in Newport Pagnell were incredible. Go check out The Red House for a carvery!
We rescheduled Solo Fest for a few months later and had a great event at Lakehurst Park (it's rebranded, it was The Kingfisher Golf & Country Club. It's a great venue in a beautiful setting).
As far back as January 2025, we were welcomed by the team at Namji for our first ever curry night.
And in September, we launched events for 25 - 40 year olds and were welcomed by the Unity Place team who hosted our events in the iconic Sky Lounge Rooftop Bar.
Our Single Sundays events were a great success in the summer and we will be back at Marco's at The Holiday Inn with our speed dating Sunday events (a new twist on Single Sundays) from January.
We regularly throw sell-out themed party events, such as our Valentine's Day RED party, Solo Fest, and Halloween Disco. Our DJ Leigh Ainsworth brings the tune,s and our dancefloors are always full. You can check Leigh out on Instagram.
Roman Events MK, who supply us with balloons and party walls for our fabulous party events, such as our Valentine's Day RED party and our spooktacular Halloween Disco.
We look forward to hosting our second Valentine's Day RED party which will be at the appropriately named Red Dot Bar at Stadium MK on Friday 13th February.
Our members are supported by Janet Watters, Your Happiness Therapist. Janet offers trauma-informed therapy and coaching for men and women in Milton Keynes.

Although not small businesses, we wanted to shout out to the amazing venues who have looked after us this year (these are also great venues for date ideas too)!
And Solo Connects isn't all about Milton Keynes. We've hosted events at The Kingfisher hotel in Bedford, The Charles Bradlaugh in Northampton, Soo Yoga in Northampton and Mead Open Farm.
We regularly visit local coffee shops and restaurants across Milton Keynes to hold business meetings, so we'd like to extend a massive thank you to all the hospitality staff who provide us with roast dinners and coffee by the bucketload!
As small business owners, we want to ensure that we can continue to support the local economy and remain committed to supporting other small businesses.
